We are very fortunate to have Mr. Ryall working with our students in the automotive classes this year. Besides being a talented teacher, he is an awesome mechanic with a wealth of experience! He is competing in the Dakar race this year with the El Martillo race team. His students will be working on a research project in the library in his absence and following his race progress every day. Happy New Year & Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a wonderfully relaxing holiday and enjoyed some fun in the snow this past weekend.
It's going to be a busy couple of weeks in the library learning commons. Today, Madame St.-Pierre's Socials 10 classes are starting a new research project on British Columbia and Western Canada history. You can find a link to your project webpage HERE. Today is locker clean out during A Block. Please return any library books that you are finished reading and make sure you sign out a good book to enjoy over the holidays!

The book club is meeting today during REBEL to finish the book " I Am Malala". Our next book is going to be "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. If you are interested in reading this book, please see Mrs. Taylor or Mrs. Sutherland to get a copy of the book. New members are always welcome!
Mrs. Sutherland is looking forward to working with Mrs. Lafreniere's History 12 class starting today on a new inquiry project on Crimes committed during World War II. You can find the your project webpage here.
Tonight is the annual winter gala at HSS! Wonderful smells are coming from the kitchen and a festive feel is in the air. A great big thanks to all the students, staff and parents that have worked so hard to to make this evening a success! The silent auction will be held in the HSS library learning commons and Mrs. Sutherland would like to thanks Mr. Roy's students who have decorated the library, Mrs. Boisvert's art students who painted festive scenes on the windows and Mrs. Tamburri's classes who decorated with gingerbread houses. It is looks wonderful in the Learning Commons!
Mrs. Sutherland would like to welcome Mr. Demers English 11 students, Mr. Roy's Psychology 12 students and Mrs. Lafrreniere's Social Justice class to the Library Learning Commons this week. Mr. Demer's students will be researching controversial topics for their argumentative essays and learning how to use the databases and Noodletools. Mrs. Lafreniere and Mr. Roy's classes are working on a new collaborative project on gender bias in the Media. Mrs. Sutherland is looking forward to learning with you this week!
